We at Two Olives, are so appreciative to be led by two passionate women, our chef owners, Joumana and Randa Toubia, who work hard each day to ensure every guest who enters our restaurant leave feeling like a part of our family. We are always looking for ways to promote women, especially local business entrepreneurs, and felt International Women’s Day was the perfect fit for a custom brunch celebration. We are proud to support International Women’s Day 2020, with a mission of building a better gender balanced work force.

International Women’s Day is about globally celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This year’s theme, “An equal world is an enabled world,” and is such a powerful statement. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing and protecting women’s constitutional right to vote. International Women’s Day was celebrated this year on Sunday, March 8, 2020. As individuals, we have the ability every day to make an impact. We can make the choice to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements. Equality is not a women’s issue, it’s a business issue. As local business owner’s, we want to take this day to celebrate the accomplishments of women in our hometown, with a particular focus on culinary experts and chefs.

At Two Olives/Olive Tree Catering, we hosted a special Sunday brunch, and featured local chefs and business owners at individual tables, giving guests the opportunity to meet and greet, and ask any questions about their business and products. Our goal was to inspire women to follow their dreams and have the confidence and support in business to accomplish their dreams. We partnered with a local organization, The Treehouse, whose mission is to guide and empower new moms by providing positive female role models, education and spiritual support, regardless of denomination. The core goal is to show and provide love and guidance to moms who may not be exposed otherwise.

We had a great turnout, so thank you to all that came out to help us celebrate women, with your friends and family. We will be donating a portion of our sales on this day to The Treehouse. For additional resources, please visit their website: wichitatreehouse.org
